Altex Solutions Group, LLC is a privately owned consulting firm specializing in lean solutions for government agencies, small business, and non-profits.

After many combined years working in both private industry and government, we, the principals at Altex Solutions Group understand the challenges organizations face and how important operations excellence is to viability and morale. We specialize in offering continuous improvement solutions that are beneficial, budget conscious, and practical.

Our comprehensive practice areas include initial consultations, operations excellence assessments, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) solutions, Lean Six Sigma (LSS) training and certification, as well as leading organization wide lean deployment. Working closely with you and your key staff, we will customize a program to fit your requirements while understanding the realistic environment in which you operate.

Tom Burket

Tom Burkett, Chief Executive Officer at Altex Solutions Group, LLC is a seasoned operations executive with 40 years of experience in private industry and government. During his 25 year career with the U. S. Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Prisons, where he had agency wide responsibility, he developed and managed partnerships between the BOP/FPI and components of the Department of Homeland Security, the United States Army and Marine Corps, as well as other federal and state agencies.

Tom has manufacturing expertise grounded in experience as general manager of a $200 Million business unit, division manager, engineering, and plant manager. Directed the startup of five new factories. He holds a Six Sigma Black Belt, is a Lean Instructor, including curriculum development, and has managed over 20 Lean Six Sigma Black Belts and 150 Green Belts, while deploying Lean in over 90 facilities producing more than 80 different products. He has presented papers at national conferences detailing the challenges and benefits of implementing Lean Six Sigma.

His corporate experience includes Combustion Engineering and International Playtex where he held plant manager and senior engineering positions. Tom is a Veteran, United States Navy. (B.S., Industrial Management, University of Alabama; M.B.A., Management, University of West Georgia)

Bentley Stires

As Chief Operating Officer, Bentley brings over 35 years of experience in managing and improving complex business processes in both private industry and the federal government. During his 30 year career with the Department of Justice and Federal Prison Industries, Inc, he served in a number of high level positions managing diverse product lines such as furniture, apparel, distribution, metals, vehicular retro-fitting and remanufacturing.

Bentley served as the Production Planning team leader during the successful implementation of two highly complex Enterprise Resource Planning systems at over 100 factories nationwide. He has extensive experience using Symix, SAP and Syteline based manufacturing software. Bentley developed curriculums and provided instruction in Material Requirements Planning, Bills of Material, Routings, Shop Floor Control, Inventory Control and Work Measurement.

Bentley received his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification through Virginia Tech University in 2006. He continued his career, serving as Deputy Branch Chief for Federal Prison Industries, Inc Continuous Improvement Branch from 2006 until his retirement from federal service in 2012. During his tenure as Deputy Branch Chief, Bentley led a team of Lean Six Sigma Black Belts during the corporate wide deployment of Lean Six Sigma, developing training and providing instruction and logistical support to well over 250 Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belts nationwide.

Following his federal service career, Bentley served as the Materials Manager for National Oilwell Varco. He provided oversight and general management at two manufacturing facilities, containing multi-million dollar inventories of heavy equipment and parts for the oil industry.

Bentley delivered presentations on continuous improvement at several national conferences over the last several years. His commitment to improving business processes is a reflection of his extensive experience and knowledge, which he is eager to share with organizations involved in both manufacturing and transactional environments.

Bentley studied Business Management and Administration at Texarkana Community College and East Texas State University in Texarkana, Texas and Clayton State College and University in Morrow, Georgia.
